LCM Book Club

We’d love for you to join us—whether in person or via Zoom
We meet every second Saturday at 10am.
For November 8th – Chickens, Mules and Two Old Fools by Victoria Twead – If Joe and Vicky had known what relocating to a tiny mountain village in Andalucia would be like, they might have hesitated… They have no idea of the culture shock in store. No idea they’ll become reluctant chicken farmers and own the most dangerous cockerel in Spain. Will they stay, or return to the relative sanity of England? Fred to lead the discussion and provide the refreshments.
For December 13th
1) The Greatest Gift  is a 1943 short story written by Philip Van Doren Stern, loosely based on the Charles Dickens 1843 novella A Christmas Carol, which became the basis for the film It’s a Wonderful Life (1946). It was self-published as a booklet in 1943 and published as a book in 1944. John to lead discussion.
2) A Christmas Carol – In October 1843, Charles Dickens – Dickens heavily in debt and obligated to his publisher began work on a book to help supplement his family’s meager income. That volume, A Christmas Carol, has long since become one of the most beloved stories in the English language. As much a part of the holiday season as holly, mistletoe, and evergreen wreaths, this perennial favorite continues to delight new readers and rekindle thoughts of charity and goodwill. Art to lead the discussion
For January 10th – The Rooster Bar by John Grisham. Grisham’s newest legal thriller takes you inside a law firm that’s on shaky ground. Mark, Todd, and Zola came to law school to change the world, to make it a better place. But now, as third-year students, these close friends realize they have been duped. Linda to lead the discussion.
